The Next Web Conference - First 12 Startups

The Next Web Conference - logo During The Next Web conference 24 startups will have 5minutes each to present their offering to the audience. Here’s my brief notes on each.

1st 6 startups

Co-Comment wants to help in managing conversations all around the web where-ever they happen.

EBuddy gives access to major instant messaging startups, makes its revenue through advertising.

Fav.or.it brings social news to the masses without them knowing what rss-feeds are and enables conversation tracking.

Wauw creates free mobile entertainment and they published WauWee, which is a mobile widget that enables user to post photos and text from their mobiles and has intergation to the biggest social networks and blog platforms.

IntroNiche is an online classifieds platform for cross-promotion of any kind, not just on the web and seems to me fills a void that just isn’t there.

Empressr’s presentation was the most visually appealing, although suffered of some technical problems. They utilized their own product, which is a flash-based online presentation (they like to call it visual storytelling).

Another 6 startups

Netlog is not technically a startup anymore as it is the biggest social networking in Europe. They already have 135000 registered users in Finland too, although not too many people I know have even heard about them.

WebNode will help anyone (even your grandma) to create a web site without too technical abilities with drag-and-drop wysiwyg editor with some really cool features, like a built in support for embedded Google Maps.

Lookery is an advertising network specializing in advertising in social networks and are making a big push into the European market.

Zilok makes it possible to rent anything online from your neighbors and had the best idea I heard all day.

Radionomy enables to create your own web radio, which is easy, fun and free to use. They claim that they will revolutionize radio, although there were some skeptical comments from the audience.

Wakoopa will monitor the usage of software and let you share your usage stats. It wil sell combined usage stats to developers and are working on tracking web apps, asa well.
